第三幕，第一场，急板的交响曲是在描写战争的情景，其中小号和双簧管的音响，给人印象最深。幕启。舞台是夕阳返照的亚历山大港海边。普特烈麦欧斯倔傲地挺立在中央，身边的克莉奥佩特拉则被武装土兵们所包围。这时姐弟两人已反目成仇。克莉奥佩特拉哭泣着唱出咏叹调《因可悲的命运泪流满颊》。先是缓板悲痛的哀叹，中段变成快板，猛烈地进射出内心的感触：“即使死了，也会出现在普特烈麦欧斯的梦里，而且诅咒他”。接着又返回开头的曲凋，最后她被土兵们带走了。 晚霞又遍照海边，此时凯撒疲惫的站在拍浪的岸边。凯撒在宣叙调中叙述出游过惊涛骇浪、拾回性命的经过。然后在咏叹调：《吹过海洋的风呵求求你》中把思慕克莉奥佩特拉的深情倾吐出来：“吹过海洋的风呵，请你冷却我疲惫的额头。巨浪呵，请温柔地对我絮语。波涛呵，请为我带来幸福，治愈我的痛苦。巨浪呵!请告诉我她的消息，告诉我最亲爱的人在那里。”接着，暮霭更深，夜空中浮现出凯撒的幻像。凯撒注视着海浪，陷入沉思里。这时，塞克司杜斯和因重伤濒临死亡的阿季拉斯一起登场。阿季拉斯说，他向柯娜丽亚吐露了爱情，他跟背叛破坏约定的普特烈麦欧斯决斗而负伤。就在临终之时，他从自己手指上拔下统率军队标志的戒指交给塞克司杜斯，请求他为自己报仇后便断气了。听到这些话后，凯撒就走近塞克司杜斯，从年轻人手里拿过戒指，高唱着咏叹调《像瀑布般》，表示自己要替死者复仇，而且要像直泻的瀑布一样勇敢地战斗。而今敌人将在他铁蹄下呻吟，我要绝不容情地杀得他片甲不留。
