第一幕，第三场。在凯撒营地内的彭贝犹斯之墓。这是用武器和战利品点缀的山形坟墓，当凯撒在墓前沉思时，克莉奥佩特拉穿着简朴的服装出现，然后跪下哭诉说：“我叫丽笛亚，是克莉奥佩特拉的侍女之一，我被残暴的普特烈麦欧斯夺去一切。”凯撒立刻被她迷住，唱出了小抒情调《野花也没这么美、这么可爱》，他很亲切地安慰她。看着这情景的尼烈奴斯在凯撒离去后，和克莉奥佩特拉很愉快地表示已经把凯撒的心抓牢了。这时，柯娜丽亚前来凭吊亡夫之墓，唱出悲痛的小抒情调《在你心中》，哀叹说她的瑰宝就在石棺里，表示她将和塞克司杜斯一起刺杀仇敌普特烈麦欧斯。在阴暗处听到这消息的克莉奥佩特拉欣喜若狂，吐露出内强烈的愿望，说不久埃及的王位和凯撒的心都将属于她。这首咏叹甜美的《希望呵，你是我灿烂的星》，是一首无比轻巧优美的花腔女高音歌曲。
