第三乐章，G大调，2/2拍。第三乐章是一首辉煌宏大的五声部赋格，中提琴，小提琴，大提琴先后在各自声部中呈示主题，最后呈示的是两支直笛。随后独奏小提琴以自由华丽的旋律进入，同时两支直笛开始展开密接合应(密接合应指的是在一个声部还没有演奏完主题，例如演奏到第2小节的时候，另一个声部就进入，同时演奏同样的主题。密结合应被认为是赋格写作当中最困难的技法之一)，独奏小提琴一直在演奏着华彩性的旋律。弦乐队再次呈示主题后，对主题和答题作了变化，独奏小提琴随后延伸了这种变化，再次给出了华彩。主题和答题不断出现在直笛，弦乐队和羽管键琴的音乐当中，而独奏小提琴也不时加入，或者演奏变化多端的华彩性的旋律，主题按照巴赫擅长的种种奇妙的发展方法，不断给人以惊喜。全曲结束于热烈欢畅的齐奏当中。改编的D大调第6键盘乐器协奏曲当中，独奏小提琴的部分交由键盘乐器演奏，键盘乐器的左手同时还担当低音部分。音色的不同使得作品的听觉感受有很大的不同，但是那许多奇妙的发展因为键盘乐器更加清晰强大的复调表现力而显得更为明了。
