第一乐章 快板，C大调，奏鸣曲式。第一主题以类似进行曲的节奏拉开序幕，结柬乐队合奏呈示后，木管短乐句引出主奏钢琴.呈示第一主题和经过部后，突然转为G小调。然后钢琴又重返G大调呈示第二主题，这个主题前半部与《第二圆号协奏曲》第二主题相似。再然后以第一主题节奏为中心，乐队各声部参与复音方式的动机运作，移入发展部。发展部先以E小调始，钢琴作技巧表现，转成各种不同的小调。再现部按第一、第二主题，经过部，第一主题后的副主题与第二主题顺序，华彩乐段后，以开头动机节奏静静地结束。
