第二乐章《卡伦德王子的故事》，“卡伦德”意思是靠施舍为生的游方僧。这一乐章又名《僧人的故事》。乐章开始，独奏小提琴奏出舍赫拉查德主题，仿佛她又开始讲述一个王子扮成乞丐的奇异故事。大管悠闲地奏出卡伦德王子的主题：这个主题经过多次不同乐器、不同色彩的配器，表现了王子遭遇各种不同经历，中间部是富有戏剧性的充满刀光剑影的格斗场景。长号奏出饱满、有力的号角性音调：随后几个主题交错，在发展中多次出现主题动机，展现了激烈的战斗情景。最后再现卡伦德王子主题的四次变奏，在雄壮有力声中结束第二乐章，低音部苏丹王主题隐约出现，似乎在赞叹。
