The Pines of the Appian Way (阿皮亚大道的松树)-RCA Living stereo
第四乐章——阿皮亚大道上的松树。阿皮亚大道为公元前312年克劳里斯所建，为古罗马军队出征时必经的道路。雷斯庇基说明：“阿皮亚大道的黎明，浓雾笼罩着整个大地。孤寂的松树在迷雾中静静地伫立。连绵不断的脚步声，发出模糊而平静的节奏。那是诗人在幻想中追忆着充满荣光的业绩。小号声突然鸣响，绚丽的阳光照耀下，执政官的军队在铺满樱花的大道上迈进，他们带着胜利者的气概登上了高高的卡庇托列雪山。”乐曲采用进行曲速度（bB大调——4/4拍）。在定音鼓、钢琴、低音弦乐器奏出的整齐的步伐节奏中，单簧管奏响了进行曲的主题音调，使人联想到古老的罗马军队，正沿着阿皮亚大道英姿勃勃地行进。步伐节奏越来越响，仿佛军队越走越近。这时，从舞台后面传来雄壮的号角声响，象征着军队的胜利凯旋，也象征着灿烂辉煌的阳光。乐曲越奏越响，仿佛浩浩荡荡的队伍沐浴着阳光列队而过。隆隆的脚步声和号角声响彻了整个阿皮亚大道。最后，在高潮中再现进行曲的音调，歌颂了古罗马的光荣历史，以豪迈的气势结束全曲。
