SQ《牛车》的力度变化很大，从极弱的音响开始，像负重的牛车从远慢慢走来，音乐到达高潮时有如牛车已走到跟前，可以听到小鼓模仿牛车走动时的吱吱声。乐队中低音声部缓慢而沉重的和弦，表现沉重的牛车不胜负荷地艰难行进，大号奏出一首牛车夫之歌，悲戚的音调表达农民的悲痛感受。这首如歌般的乐韵余音，又在加上弱音器的圆号和低音单簧管上出现，最后慢慢消逝。
