由于上一曲，诗人的心情彻底沉沦下去。从这里开始连续3曲都采用小调。如果花儿知道诗人的心受伤，或许会安慰他，但是知道这件事的，只有情人而已。这是很大的绝望感。他希望花、夜莺、星星知道他的痛苦，希望借此舒缓沉沦的心情，但是徒然。心碎！这是很有舒曼特色的纤细乐曲。始终摇动的钢琴旋律，好像在描写颤抖的破碎的心。小小的花朵、鸣啭的夜莺、闪烁的星星，都纤细地回应颤抖的心。在第3曲已提过， 大自然是诗人的最好的朋友。也许这位诗人具有跟花、鸟、星星谈话的感受力，所以希望大自然能给他慰借。到后面第12曲，还有花跟他谈话呢。从乐曲开头一直颤抖的钢琴，到"zerrissen（打碎）"处忽然与声乐旋律齐奏，切断音乐流动，然后在"zerrissen mir das Herz（打碎了我的心）"处，钢琴与歌声以齐奏断然唱出此句。接着而来的钢琴后奏，忿怒与绝望在心中成为暴风狂奔。
