第三乐章，降E大调，3/4拍，谐谑曲。该乐章充满能量，开头的弱奏突然转成特强；作曲手法简洁细致，感情色彩也有所变化。主题在双簧管上出现。该乐章虽然速度快，却并非玩笑之作。对其的解释有两种极端：既有称之为“自然春色的复活”“乡间欢快的集市”者，也有认为是“军营中的景象”的，白辽士甚至称之为伊利亚特中勇士们在其领袖的墓冢前所进行的舞蹈。这也是第一部在谐谑曲中使用了三支圆号的交响曲。三声中部有一个军号般的主题，由圆号奏出。最后强有力地在鼓声中结束。该乐章虽然速度快，却并非玩笑之作。对其的解释有两种极端：既有称之为“自然春色的复活”“乡间欢快的集市”者，也有认为是“军营中的景象”的，白辽士甚至称之为伊利亚特中勇士们在其领袖的墓冢前所进行的舞蹈。这也是第一部在谐谑曲中使用了三支圆号的交响曲。
