第一部分 引子。 缓慢的开始部分运用了不可思议的乐器色彩，阴暗的低音提琴和大提琴与加弱音器的高音弦乐的颤音形式的对比，不禁使人想起斯特拉文斯基的《火鸟》组曲那带有浪漫主义色彩的开端。 这一部分的第二主题虽然带有舞蹈节奏，但仍是很阴郁的，它与第一主题一样，表达的是作者的思乡情绪。 音乐以对位形式发展，不久变得明朗起来，明快的木管奏出略为欢快的旋律，仿佛摆脱了阴郁。 巴托克称这一部分的音乐为“高度技巧的处理”。
