第三幕，待选王后的各国佳丽云集在城堡的舞厅中，王子必须从中挑选出一位未婚妻。公主们为讨王子的欢心纷纷献舞，可是王子的思绪不在她们身上，拒绝做出选择。响亮的号声响起，宣告来了两位没有受到邀请的客人。他们是魔王罗斯巴特伪装的使臣和他的女儿奥吉莉娅。罗斯巴特把奥吉莉娅变成了奥杰塔，王子被貌似奥杰塔的不知身份的来访者迷住了，他深信舞池中的就是他那位天鹅公主。正当王子和奥吉莉娅共舞时，奥杰塔在窗口出现，她祈求王子记起对她的誓言，但此时的王子已被魔王的符咒迷惑分神。王子在魔王的要求下举手对奥吉莉娅许下爱的誓言——魔王的阴谋得逞了，奥杰塔绝望地呼喊离去。顿时电闪雷鸣，舞厅里一片混乱不堪，王子绝望地醒悟过来，但为时已晚，他已对别人再次承诺了爱的誓言。受到欺骗的王子冲出去寻找真正的奥杰塔。
