第一乐章，奏鸣曲式，D大调，开头的庄严旋律为《德累斯顿·阿门》的著名乐句。《德累斯顿·阿门》是17世纪左右始，德累斯顿宫廷教会启用的一种特殊“阿门”，目前已普遍为世界各地所唱的赞美歌所采用。序奏以此动机为基础构成，充满神圣的气氛。主部为热烈的快板，D小调，亦为序奏的发展。第一主题先有力地奏出，第二主题予以辅助，这两个主题以华丽的姿态发展。序奏片断出现后进人再现部，两个主题反复。
