第1首，引子，乐曲开始便是极其动人壮丽的日出序奏引子，理查·施特劳斯有这样描绘：“太阳升起来了。人进入世界，或世界融入人心中。”这段著名的引子的主题以三个简单音型（C—G—C）构成，是象征大自然的第一主题，亦有人称之为“世界之谜主题”。以管风琴、低音大管、低音提琴和低音大号响起微弱低沉的C音，延长四个小节，就在此一安静的、不祥的低音持续音的拱托下，四支小号以特弱的力度奏出这个庄严的大自然主题（C—G—C），随后这个主题以各种不同的节奏外形，遍布于整部交响诗直至到乐曲结束。这一简单引子力度很快增强，就像太阳辉煌地慢慢升起，大调和小调戏剧性地交替，定音鼓敲出雷鸣般的三连音，在管风琴奏出最后一个音符时，达到高度紧张，仿似要破裂般的高潮，突然铜管乐器，爆出主旋律，太阳升起来了。这时并加入管风琴和乐队全奏，在一个持续长和弦上辉煌地结束。 就这样，在太阳的祝福下，先知回到了俗世，开始把自己积累的人生体会向人类倾囊相授，原于善恶彼岸，按照自己的意志生活的超人查拉图斯特拉自此走下凡尘。
