《雏鸡之舞》原称是《未出壳的小鸡的芭蕾舞》（Ballet of Unhatched Chicks），是穆索尔斯基的钢琴套曲《展览会上的图画》中第9首，表现的是第五幅画作。这首小诙谐曲像是一首“古典芭蕾舞”音乐，将优美和童真直接融合在一起，雀雏在啁啾、跳跃，在啄自己的外壳，用小小的脚尖跳着芭蕾舞。画中鸟在音乐中完全活起来，整个乐曲具有幽默性和舞蹈色彩，从小雀雏身上可以随时感受到儿童天真烂漫的性格。整段乐曲在高音区进行，强调表现尖声尖气的音响，当中一段运用了小提琴的明亮颤音，添加一种幽默色彩。
