第二幕：第一景埃及公主寝宫，在奴婢们环俟之下，公主安奈瑞斯舒服地躺在长椅上，等待拉达梅斯率领埃及大军出征胜利，凯旋归来。小黑奴们还特地献上一段舞蹈，取悦公主。未久，安奈瑞斯看见阿伊达慢慢走来，她命令旁人退下，只留下她和阿伊达单独对话。安奈瑞斯首先假意地问候阿伊达，是否为了祖国（埃塞俄比亚）的败仗而忧心忡忡？但在言谈中，安奈瑞斯逐渐看出：令阿伊达挂心的，却是一桩爱情；安奈瑞斯不断刺探阿伊达，甚至还捏造谎言，说是拉达梅斯已经战死在沙场上。阿伊达至此终于表露实情，她的确深爱著拉达梅斯，并不惜以情敌之姿和安奈瑞斯对抗，但随即她又想起自己的身份，转而请求安奈瑞斯的宽恕。安奈瑞斯在确定阿伊达与拉达梅斯的关系之后，心中不免燃起妒火，而阿伊达向她跪地求饶，更增加她的虚荣感和愤怒；在告知阿伊达实情─拉达梅斯并没有战死、还将率领大军凯旋归来─之后，安奈瑞斯丢下一句狠话：「有种就和我在情战上决战吧！」随即转身离去，只留下独自啜泣的阿伊达。
