第一幕 场景1 阿提拉阵营附近的森林。这是序幕几周后的月夜。随着小提琴所奏充满悲伤之情的行板前奏，现在成为阿提拉俘虏的欧达贝拉登场，她在月光下独自陷入悲伤之中，想念着去世父亲和 行踪不明的情人佛烈斯特。这时由她所唱的浪漫曲《哦!在飘浮而去的白云中》，在长笛、英国管、竖琴和大提琴极为透明的音色中，酝酿出了印象深刻的抒情气氛。这时穿上奇怪服装、经过乔装打扮的佛烈斯特出现了。欧达贝达吓了一跳，以为是在做梦。但不料他的态度却充满愤怒。他误以为欧达贝拉已经成为阿提拉的爱妾，忘掉了和他的海誓山盟。在两人二重唱的前半段，安排了佛烈斯特所唱A小调行板的独唱，以及听后很激动的、欧达贝拉稍许慌忙的A大调歌曲。欧达贝拉竭力辩解着她说，自己是学 习古时候杀死亚述将军贺罗费奈斯、拯救祖国的犹太寡妇尤笛特的故事，现在故意向阿提拉献媚，是在等待着为祖国和父亲报仇的机会，在佛烈斯特息怒并了解真实 情况后。二重唱的后半变成降D大调的快板，在洋溢着快乐和充满爱情的歌声中，两人热情地拥抱在一起。
