原画描绘法国南部阳光明媚的利莫日(Limoges)市场上喧闹的妇女。乐曲从圆号欢乐的基本主题开始，再由弦乐组快速接奏。木管乐器不时插入，情绪更加活跃，小号的喜剧性穿插也很有效果，乐曲不用低音乐器，在高音区进行，仿真妇女的高音音色，惟妙惟肖地活现了市场上长舌妇女絮絮不休的喧闹，和烦躁的生活场面;声浪时而高涨，时而减弱，起伏变化，喧闹的气氛，持续增涨，临近结束时，那群妇女由闲谈转变为争吵、叫喊，情绪发展到最高潮。结尾处，喧嚣声嘎然停止，然后以一个上行半音乐句，突然转入截然不同气氛的下一段乐曲。
