第16首，女高音咏叹调《锡安的儿女，快乐欢欣》。这是整部《弥赛亚》中“最明朗的乐曲”。锡安、耶路撒冷、大卫城在《圣经》里是同一个地方的三种称呼。锡安的儿女指的就是上帝的百姓。此曲歌词唱的是“快乐，欢欣，要喊叫”，而原出处的经文在描绘上帝的百姓迎接君王弥赛亚来临的场景时，用的是“大大喜乐”，都是叙述抑制不住的喜悦和激动不已的心情。因此亨德尔在一开始就用逐步向上推进的旋律、“众多的十六分音符、活泼的伴奏”、长长的“拖腔”来表达那份欣喜、愉悦、载歌载舞，欢呼和平之君惠临耶路撒冷的情形，让人回味。“在意大利风格小提琴助奏与通奏低音的大键琴伴奏和号角花彩激昂情绪配合下，女高音以轻盈的声线唱出了那份欢喜之情。”
