Ode To Joy (欢乐颂)-Angelic Voices
HQ整部作品的精髓，急板，D大调，4/4拍。通常划分为两个部分 ——序奏以及人声。在一些唱片中，第四乐章单独占据一个轨道，也有一些唱片把序奏部分和人声独唱、重唱、合唱部分分为两轨，但其实上两者都属于第四乐章这个整体。其中的人声部分所演唱的也就正是德国诗人席勒的诗作《欢乐颂》！但在人声部分上台之前，音乐经历了长时间的器乐部分演奏的痛苦经历（宣叹调），含有对前三个乐章的回忆。这个序奏部分是坚强刚毅，惊心动魄的。接着木管徐徐的引出了“欢乐颂”的主题，好像一缕阳光突破浓密的云层洒向大地，整个欢乐的主题渐渐拉开序幕，大提琴与低音提琴奏响了欢乐主题，继而加入中提琴、大管、小提琴等乐器，意味着贝多芬真正的理想王国就在眼前！经过了一系列的铺垫，人声部分终于浮上水面，开始了《欢乐颂》的吟唱！随后，乐曲转入bB大调，使歌唱声更富有活力。紧接着乐队奏出了多重赋格，将乐曲推向第一个高峰。待平息之后（D大调），合唱团闪现《欢乐颂》与《工人们团结起来》的旋律，将乐曲推向光辉灿烂的结尾。
前面就说到过，这首诗作是作曲家一生的钟爱。所以在《第九交响曲》创作的最后关头，贝多芬甚至还不舍得过早的就把歌唱《欢乐颂》的部分放到自己的作品中。他并不愿意把《第九交响曲》作为自己在交响乐领域的封笔之作，作为自己最高理想的体现，当时他还在计划着《第十交响曲》甚至《第十一》、《第十二》。但最后乐圣还是妥协了。或许是宿命、或许是巧合，《第九交响曲》成了贝多芬最后一部交响曲，最终成为了他作曲生涯的巅峰。
