[ti:Listen] [ar:FFH] [al:Voice From Home] [by:] [offset:0] [00:00.00]Listen - FFH [00:22.20]Voices are everywhere and they're screaming at [00:24.81]Us use me buy me believe me we've got voices [00:28.01]All over our culture chat rooms commercials billboards [00:31.29]And bumper stickers and they all want our immediate attention [00:34.59] [00:35.25]And then there is that voice from the past or [00:37.11]That voice in your head that says you messed up too many times [00:41.02]You can't do it you can't do it on your own you're not smart enough [00:44.03] [00:44.78]You're not strong enough you're not stable enough [00:47.52]You're not thin enough and then there's the enemy the father of lies [00:51.47]That likes to get in there and say no way [00:53.38]You'll ever make anything of yourself [00:54.62] [00:55.33]I had this amazing conversation with [00:57.53]My dad not too long ago he's a great man [00:59.99]I love him so much and he told me about the first time [01:02.64]That his father said something encouraging to him [01:05.64]My dad had just put a room onto his house [01:08.05]And my grandfather was a master carpenter [01:09.88] [01:10.40]And he was inspecting my dads work and [01:12.29]He got done and went to my dad and said [01:14.35]That's a good job harry and that [01:16.47]Was the first time my grandfather said something encouraging [01:19.39]To my dad and he was thirty-eight years old [01:21.44] [01:21.96]Man and without hearing that voice without hearing [01:24.46]That whether it's the actually the physical audible [01:27.00]Voice of your father or mother or the voice from [01:29.01]God you don't have any identity you have no way [01:31.94]To function I think Jesus knew that I think [01:34.53]That's why when he went through his ministry touching [01:37.01]People and healing people and speaking to people [01:39.86]He never asked them to be anything that [01:41.84]They weren't he tried to get them to understand [01:43.99]Who they were that's why he said you're my daughter [01:46.63]You're my son you're my brother you're my sheep [01:49.65]He wanted us to identify with him and understand [01:51.99]That were his creation that we're worth something [01:54.66]Yeah and that's something amazing about Jesus [01:56.17]He could look down into somebody spirit [01:58.52]And draw out who they really were I mean [02:01.29]He looked at Simon and said you know [02:02.78]What you're not Simon you're peter you're a rock [02:04.92]And how bout that woman that came up to him [02:07.02]When he was going through that crowd and [02:08.65]She touched his garment and he turned around [02:11.28]And he said daughter his first word daughter [02:16.23]You know Jesus got that honestly from his father three times [02:19.60]When Jesus was under immense pressure in his ministry [02:23.22]God the father actually spoke I mean spoke audibly [02:26.02]It wasn't inward Jesus heard it and the people around [02:28.69]Jesus heard it like at his baptism God [02:30.80]The father said you are my son I love you [02:33.35]And I'm pleased with you and then at the transfiguration [02:35.90]The father spoke again and the disciples heard it [02:38.69]The father said you are my son I have chosen you [02:40.87]And God just established Christs purpose on [02:43.31]That mountain and then before Christ died at Gethsemane [02:46.51]In John twelve Jesus prayed should I pray to be delivered from [02:49.81]This hour no this is why I've come glorify your name [02:53.19]Father and the father spoke and said I have glorified it [02:56.64]And I will glorify it again and I think [02:59.11]That promise just drove Christ to the cross [03:01.72]I think it did too you may have never heard [03:04.62]That voice that voice that says you're worth [03:07.34]It you're smart enough I believe in you [03:09.09]I love you there may be a gaping hole in your spirit [03:12.07]Where that voice was supposed to speak into [03:13.50]And it's just a vacuum listen Jesus doesn't require [03:17.46]Anything of you you can't work to get his approval [03:20.45] [03:21.24]Remember when he was affirmed by his father when [03:23.94]God looked down and said this is my son who [03:25.67]I love Jesus hadn't done a single miracle all [03:29.28]He asks of you is that you listen
