Katseessani kirkas valo matkaan läpi autiuden. Kenttä taistelun taakse jäänyt vain toistaa vaimeita kirouksiaan. Veljeni ja viholliseni; ei kukaan heistä sano sanaakaan. Miekan terän tunsin rinnassani, nyt kuulen kutsun Tuonelan. Sade huuhtoo tuhot taistelun, vereni virtaansa vie. Alla tähtitaivaan pohjoisen vaan en (enää) päällä maan... Turhaan pelkäisin saapumista kuolemattomien keskuuteen. Käsi kädessä ikuisuuden hyppään reunalta tyhjyyden.
