Mooney [00:02.47]The southern railway had a wreck at ten o'clock one morn [00:08.82] [00:09.67]Near hodges and newmarket grounds the place and date adorn [00:15.95] [00:16.92]On the twenty fourth of september the year nineteen and four [00:23.67] [00:24.45]Was when that awful wreck occurred to both the rich and poor [00:30.75] [00:32.05]The trains were going east and west and speeding on their way [00:38.34] [00:39.29]They ran together on a curve and what a wreck that day [00:45.72] [00:46.40]The cars were busted and torn and split [00:49.25] [00:49.89]And spread across the track [00:52.89] [00:53.58]You see a picture of the wreck just over on the back [00:59.80] [01:01.53]Conductor on the west bound train had made a bad mistake [01:07.77] [01:08.57]He never read his orders right and caused that awful fate [01:14.84] [01:15.71]He hurt one hundred and a half and there were seventy dead [01:21.91] [01:22.47]I hope he has forgiveness now and lives without a dread [01:29.10] [01:30.67]The engineer on the east bound train had kissed his darling wife [01:37.06] [01:37.74]Before he got on board his train then he had to give his life [01:44.27] [01:44.80]I trust that he was pure in heart and now is with the blest [01:51.06] [01:51.91]And that his wife will meet him there and be with him at rest [01:58.29] [02:00.07]They found a note the man had wrote and this is what it said [02:06.08] [02:07.18]Please take me home and bury me that filled them all with dread [02:13.64] [02:14.72]Found his body cold in death and then they sent him home [02:20.55] [02:21.30]And buried him with long gone friends with whom he used to roam [02:27.63] [02:29.27]And oh the men and women's moans did echo through the air [02:35.52] [02:36.39]Such cries was never heard before from humans in despair [02:42.75] [02:43.59]The little children cried aloud for mercy to their god [02:49.61] [02:50.58]But now they all are dead and gone and under earthly sod
