Sparklehorse是来自美国维吉尼亚的独立乐队，组建于1994年底。其灵魂人物马克·林科斯曾是20世纪80年代中期独立乐队Dancing Hoods的成员。在组建Sparklehorse以前，马克还当过烟囱工和油漆匠，平日他热衷于在自家的地下录音室里制造一些怪诞的“流行小调”，以此打发时光。与那些摇滚“事业家”不同，马克是一个执拗的“思乡”者，他不肯离开家乡，似乎也没有打算到外面去寻找自己音乐的理想。在自家的农场里，他过着一种田园牧歌式的“宁静”生活，而且他的音乐几乎都诞生于此。
