The Finnish baritone, Petteri Salomaa, studied singing at the Sibelius Academy, Petteri Salomaa. After completing his studies, he won the Lappeenranta Song Contest in 1981.
Two years later Petteri Salomaa made his début at the Finnish National Opera in the title role of Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro, and embarked on an international career in 1985 with performances in Germany and Ireland. He sang Mozart roles at the Drottningholm Castle Theatre in Stockholm from 1986 to 1989, and was engaged by the Freiburg Theatre from 1989 to 1991. From 1991 to 1993 he was visiting soloist with the Frankfurt Opera. In 1995 he took the role of Prince Hat in the premiere of Erik Bergman's opera Det sjungande trädet (The Singing Tree).
