Wojciech Rajski completed the Warsaw Academy of Music where he graduated with honours, he then went on to further his studies in Vienna and Cologne, where he participated in conductors’ master classes.
Rajski’s exceptional talents were soon to be recognised and brought to the attention of the Artistic Director of the Grand Theatre in Warsaw, who engaged the young conductor upon the completion of his studies in 1971.
Between 1971 and 1981 Rajski held the position of Artistic Director and Principal Conductor of the Poznan Philharmonic Orchestra in Poland and that of a leading conductor at the Bonn Orchestra of the Beethovenhalle in Germany.
In 1982, Rajski established the Polish Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra – Sopot with young talented musicians, whose rich repertoire includes a wide range and variety of musical styles from baroque and classical to modern and contemporary music.
Rajski has conducted at many important festivals all over the world, for example at Montpellier, Praque, Schleswig - Holstein, Passau, Warsaw, Ludwigsburg, Flanders, Grand Canaria, Tivoli and Copenhagen. All of them were highly praised and gained enormous recognition.
In addition to his own conducting commitments, Rajski has often performed as a guest conductor in Mexico, Greece, Hungary, CSFR, France, Sweden, England, Germany and the Soviet Union.
During recent years, Rajski has had the pleasure of conducting first-class soloists like Rostropovich, Zimerman, Szeryng, Dumay, Geringas, Frantz, Kogan, Eschenbach and Arrau.
In addition, Rajski, together with the Polish Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra – Sopot has made many recordings with EMI, Le Chant du Monde, Claves, Bis, Midas, Thorofon, Wifon, also television and radio appearances for German 3 Sat and the Polish Radio.
Since 1993 Rajski has also been the Artistic Director of the Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra in Warsaw.
And since 1998 Wojciech Rajski has taught conducting at The Music Academy in Frankfurt/Main and since 2008 at Music Academy in Gdansk.
