Trained as a multi-instrumentalist by his father, who performed in the famous Le Pavillon Bleu orchestra in Kindia, Mamadou Barry self-produced Niyo and recorded the album in Conakry with the best musicians in the area, as well as the of the finest female vocalists in Guinea. The music is a masterful blend of Afrobeat, Mandingo rhythms, soft funk and jazz and Latin flavors, creating a surprise treat from Africa this summer.
