乐队最初是在2008年以Stand By Me为名在MuchMusic的节目disBAND上演出， 在遇见该节目知名制作人Greig Nori后，他建议Stand By Me因为版权问题立即改名。于是乐队用了"Turn It Up“这个名字。后来，为了巡演需要，乐队再度改名，最终定下了Stereos这个名字。 在节目上大受好评后，Stereos举办了众多公演，最终Universal Music Canada的一纸合约肯定了他们的成绩。 09年6月单曲《Summer Girl》一出，就凭借首周令人满意的下载量而排进Canadian Hot 100 ，后来这张单曲为这个年轻组合带来在加拿大12000的销量和CRIA（加拿大唱片业协会）双平台数字下载认证。2009年10月20日，Stereos发行了他们的首张同名专辑，在卖出超过40000后，该专辑在2010年被CRIA授予金牌认证。2009年11月7日，Stereos开始了在加拿大多个地区的首次巡演。
