早年经历
York和Broom是北安普顿乐队The Apex Group的成员。Hunter很快就离开了他的家加入了The Apex Group担当节奏吉他手。
Hunter在乐队发行了第一张单曲《Yorkshire Relish,Caravan》后于1958年离开The Apex Group。Hunter与当地一些乐队合作过，但最终他的经济形势使他无法继续下去。
1966年Hunter移居伦敦，在那里他加入了The Scenery乐队，成员有吉他手Miller Anderson，鼓手Dave Dufort和键盘手Dante Smith。Hunter和Anderson创作并录制《To Make A Man Cry》。
