Eddy Meets Yannah

Indeed there are lots of things happening in the Balkan state. And with their critically acclaimed debut “Just Like…” the gifted duo Yannah Valdevit (producer, singer, musician, songwriter, arranger) and Eddy Ramich (producer, arranger, DJ) definitely put Zagreb’s flourishing yet unheard music scene on the map! After two more great singles and some much praised remixes (of Arthur Verocai, Elizabeth Shepherd, Bobby Caldwell,Tania Maria, etc.) finally the time has come for album number two! On their sophomore effort “Once In A While” the duo offers a joyful fusion of sophisticated soul, urban beats, future jazz and sweet R’n’B harmonies to die for. Guest features include legendary Earl Zinger, rhyme spitter Capitol A and Canadian soul sister Amalia. Eddy Ramich has a lively history and had undoubtedly played a huge part in the spread of soulful club music across Europe’s clubs and radio waves. Before teaming up with Yannah in 2003 he had released already a long list of productions with his former partner Dus under the alias of Eddy & Dus. Their album “High Life” as well as the remixes of international acts like Ennio Morricone, Sun Ra or Nicola Conte were causing a stir in the future jazz world. Spinning records since the late 80s Eddy has become a global player DJ with unbelievable technical and musical skills always creating a positive party vibe. For 9 years he has hosted the clubnite Kontrapunkt at the Aquarius in Zagreb featuring guest DJs like Gilles Peterson, Jazzanova, 4Hero, Carl Craig, IG Culture, Bugz In The Attic, Rainer Trüby and many more. And believe, you can sk any of these guys for a list of their favourite clubs to play – Kontrapunkt will be in there! The Eddy Ramich One Man Radio Show on Radio 101 is one of the few shows in Europe that is presenting underground soul, hiphop, jazz broken beats and soulful house at daytime on a major radio station. In 2006 he was voted “Master of the Mastermix” by the radio show “Modaista” on the Japanese station J-Wave. His radio mix was picked as the best among other mixes by Gilles Peterson, Bugz In The Attic or Darren Emerson!!! Yannah Valdevit is what you call an exceptional personality. She is one of the rare women who can write, programm and arrange a track all on her own AND has got a whole lotta soul! After being introduced to new club sounds such as broken beats or nu soul by Eddy & Dus in 2001, she started writing own songs and dealing with the creation of music. To acquire skills in arranging, production and programming she spent the next two years working in a studio before joining forces with Eddy in 2003. Performing as a duo, Eddy Meets Yannah’s set is heavier than you might expect, taking in soulful dancefloor sounds, and Eddy’s favourite, the heavy broken beat!
