Michael Trotter

With a mother at the piano and a father on the guitar, there was never any shortage of music in the Trotter household. Born into a working-class family in the Maryhill area of Glasgow it was that mix of musicality along with a deep sense of family and community spirit that brought people together to sing and entertain each other, whether it be at the summer street parties held behind the tenements, or singing at the neighbours' Hogmany parties. When the family moved to Cardonald in the south side of the city, Michael took up piano lessons two years later at the age of of seven until the age of 16. The piano lessons were about to pay off however when along with a friend after classes they would get together in the music room at school and jam beatles songs much to the entertainment of the music teacher Mrs Johnston.
