An eccentric enterprise composed of members of Khanate (vocalist Alan Dubin), Burning Witch (drummer Jamie Sykes), Enos Slaughter (guitarist/bassist/pianist Carter Thornton), and Ike Yard (sonic manipulator Jun Mizumachi), plus Emmy Award-winning sound designer Brian Beatrice, Gnaw were formed in 2006 and spent the better part of a year collaborating spontaneously to "see/hear what would develop." What that was -- 2009's This Face album, released through Conspiracy Records -- may never be successfully categorized, given its wholly unpredictable and anarchic noise rock collage of industrial music, extreme metal, dissonant effects, and field recordings, among other things.
