Junkboy

Junkboy are an experimental post-rock and electronica band that originated from Southend-on-Sea, Essex in the late nineties. The core members of the band include brothers Mik and Rich Hanscomb. They named themselves after an ecchi Japanese animation. Initially Junkboy went about recording their songs at a local studio and signed to Enraptured Records who released a double A-side 7” (ifyoulivedhereyou'dbehomebynow / infrastructure), and an EP (Kraut_hop Ya Don’t Stop!) in 1999. Through Moshi Moshi records, Junkboy released an EP entitled Robot and Proud which contained both electronic and organic elements, in 2000 and their debut album The Dynamics of Modern Communication released in the summer of 2002. Junkboy finished their second album which was released on Enraptured Records; 'Lost Parade' appeared in The Wire (magazine) with the song Shadow and Act finding a place on the Wire Tapper CD in summer 2005 2008 saw the release of Three the third Junkboy album. Junkboy have relocated to Brighton, Sussex where they continue to make music and play live with an expanding pallet of sounds and musicians.
