Joanie Madden1965年生于纽约；当她十几岁时就被称为世界上最好的六孔哨笛演奏者了，到1984年她赢得了全爱尔兰的六孔哨笛锦标赛的最高奖，而以前还从来没有一个美国人得此殊荣。Joanie Madden为了推广并延续传统文化，还组成Cherish The Lady 六位女子乐团，这一个传统性的爱尔兰组织，专门演出凯尔特音乐。并在1992年出版了他们首张专辑《The Back Door》；两年之后，她出版首张独奏曲专辑《A Whistle On The Wind》，1996年的哨笛专辑《Song Of The Irish Whistle 爱尔兰哨笛》和1999年的《Song Of The Irish Whistle 2爱尔兰哨笛2》。
