Sebastião Tapajós

Sebastião Tapajós (born April 16, 1944) is a Brazilian guitarist and composer from Santarém (Pará). He started playing guitar with his father when he was nine years old, and studied it in the Conservatório de Lisboa and in the Instituto de Cultura Hispânica de Madrid. He played with many famous MPB artists like Hermeto Pascoal, Zimbo Trio, Waldir Azevedo, Paulo Moura, Sivuca, Gerry Mulligan, Ástor Piazzolla, Oscar Peterson, Paquito D'Rivera, Maurício Einhorn and Joel do Bandolim. In 1998 he composed the soundtrack for the paraense (Pará-born) feature length film Lendas Amazônicas. Nowadays Tapajós is a well-known musician in Europe, where he played countless times during the last decade, particularly in Germany. He has recorded more than 50 albums.
